Based in Manhattan, New York, Benjamin Barham-Wiese is a 16 year old freelance drummer, percussionist, and timpanist with an emphasis on musical theatre pit playing and orchestral work. Benjamin is a sophomore at the Special Music School High School where he studies classical percussion with Chris Graham. He also studies at the Manhattan School of Music Pre college and Summer Intensive where he studies percussion performance with Jeff Reis and Jeremy Levine.

When not playing percussion, Benjamin enjoys singing, composing, arranging music, cooking, and is learning how to conduct and orchestrate!

EXPERIENCE

Benjamin currently is the resident Drummer & Percussionist at St. Jeans Theatre where he has played in the pits for their productions of Into the Woods, Avenue Q, Cats, Sound of Music, and Annie. Benjamin recently served as the percussion 2 player for West Side Story at Stephen Wise Free Synagogue. Additional credits include playing drums and percussion for musicals such as Seussical, Spring Awakening, and The Addams Family.

Benjamin is a percussionist in Amore Opera Orchestra where he has recently played for their productions of La Boheme, Carmen, and Die Flaudermaus.

Benjamin currently is currently the first chair percussionist and Associate Principal Timpanist for the Manhattan School of Music Precollege Symphony Orchestra. Benjamin plays percussion for the Special Music School Wind Ensemble and Face the Music, a dynamic youth program dedicated to studying and performing works by living composers. Additionally, Benjamin frequently provides percussion and drum set for recordings, short film scores, and albums of all kinds!
